It is totally possible to play the bombard or the bagpipe in Toulouse...
A bagad is a Breton band, composed of biniou (bagpipes in Breton language), bombardes and snare drums. The pipe-band tradition in Brittany was inspired by the Scottish and was developed from the first half of the 20th century. A bagad plays mainly Breton music.
The plural for bagad is unusual in that many are referred to as bagadoù but for two, three or any other specified number they are simply referred to as bagad.
For the time being, we have constituted a group of 6 bagpipes and 14 bombards, training twice a week. A few months ago came the idea and strong will of creating a real bagad. This goal has almost been reached: one more step and not the least needs to be taken, we need to build up a drums section.

We do not have any teachers but the trained musicians do their best to help the beginners. In addition to these weekly meetings, we usually hire teachers from Brittany to come down to Toulouse once or twice a year for longer training sessions.
We try to get an as wide as possible repertoire. Together, we play various music tunes such as kas abarh, gavotte des montagnes, rond de Saint-Vincent, march, an dro, etc.
We also have pairs of musicians (1 bagpipe + 1 bombard) who complete the repertoire with some suite plinn, suite bigouden, gavotte Tinduff, dans Keff, suite de l'Aven, gavotte d'honneur de Plougastel and so on.
